A Deeper Easter Story?

Lilies in field

Growing up an Episcopal priest’s kid, I remember being saddened as a kid during “Holy Week,” mostly due to Jesus’s story and how he was treated so unjustly during his last days. This time of his life is so amplified in our culture it feels to me his greater message is almost missed.

I now marvel at Jesus’s courage and bravery. His conviction in the Truth so profound that he was able to transcend the body’s desire to maintain physical life, leaving close family, friends and the physical world. Yet he maintained his compassion, knowing that the actions taken by his persecutors were simply unconscious; “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Jesus fulfilled his mission by demonstrating his knowledge that physical death is not the end, but a continuation; a stepping across. Further, that The Universe is one of Unconditional Love, as he spoke with complete knowing to the criminal(s) with him that day, “Today, you will be with me in paradise.”

And so, I would like to reiterate what Jesus so beautifully exemplified with his last physical act:

-        We live in a universe of Unconditional Love.

-        We are always welcomed Home, back into The Kingdom or Paradise.

-        Physical death is just a continuation of life!

“You can do these things and more!” Jesus encouraged. He understood the potential of each of us as an aspect of The Creator or God. Are you audacious enough to believe it? Consider it to be the actual Truth! How exciting and liberating!

Blessings to you this Easter. Let’s celebrate Jesus and his beautiful example of who we really are!
